The Nasinu Rugby Union’s top priority this year is to make it to next year’s Skipper Cup competition.

Holding their third week of competition yesterday, union secretary Jone Tukana said they need to be competitive and tough in their weekly competition in order to able to compete in the B- Division’s Vanua Challenge.

“Competition has been very competitive, we have kicked off our season two weeks ago and now we are resuming our games due to the weather we have been experiencing last week,” Tukana said.

“It has been very tough, we have two grounds now, one at Assemblies of God (AOG) grounds and one at the Fiji National University grounds.

“Our main goal is to make it to the Skipper Cup competition next year. This year we will be participating in the Vanua Challenge and we have our first game against Rewa.

“We have to be competitive and be confident if we want to participate at that level, we have to make the cut. These weekly competition is what we need to prepare ourselves for the upcoming tournaments. We are thankful that teams have been playing their hearts out on the field. We have also seen an increase in teams, last year we had 20 and this year we have around 22 teams.

“But we are still receiving expressions of interest from other clubs within the Nasinu corridor that they still want to join us but we are still considering them before we make any decision.”

Nasinu are pooled with Rewa, Northern Bulls, Nabua and Cakaudrove in the Vanua Challenge.
