Group members Jitendra Sharma, 39 said: “For the past few years we have been thinking and planning to do something for our community.

“With the aim of giving something back to our community, we formed our community group.

“We have done some community work and there are plans underway to do more for our community.”

Mr Sharma said after Ram Navami they had made plans to make steps at the Navua cemetery.

“We contribute to do our community work but, if we are working on a big community project, we then look for donors,” he said.

“The person behind the formation of this group is Navua Police station police officer Ravin Prasad.”

Mr Sharma said that police officer Ravin Prasad was based at the Wainadoi Police Post in Navua where he visited some communities in Navua and saw that there was a lot that needed to been done in communities in Navua.

“After building the steps at the Navua Cemetery, we are planning to have a clean-up campaign at the Navua Hospital.

“We believe that instead of wasting our money on beer and kava, we can save that money and make use of it in our community project.”

Mr Sharma said there were plans to involve youths in the group.
