A 19-year-old appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday charged with the rape of his cousin.
Magistrate Waleen George further remanded the accused.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Saula Qiolevu served first phase disclosures.
The accused sought Legal Aid assistance.
It is alleged that sometime in January, 2016, he raped his eight-year-old cousin.
The matter has been transferred to the Nasinu Magistrates Court.
A domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) was issued to the accused for the protection of the victim.
The case has been adjourned to April 12, for mention.
