McKee Scouts For Young Talent Abroad

Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee will be keeping a close eye on the young and upcoming Fijian players abroad.
McKee is eyeing those who would come in handy in the build up to the Rugby World Cup in 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.
He is currently in France to meet with Fijian players in 40 different clubs. But not all the players are on their track list for the Flying Fijians.
“I have visited 10 clubs in France and have had face to face meetings with around 40 Fijian players to date,” McKee said.
“At all the clubs I have met with the coaches and staff which is important to check on the progress of players and also to discuss the Flying Fijians match programme for 2017.
“Not all of the 40 players are on the Flying Fijians tracking list for 2017. Some are younger players, many in Academy Programmes, who are starting to make their mark at their clubs.
“It is important we keep a close eye on these players as they could come into the Flying Fijians frame in the lead up to RWC 2019.”
He is in Clermont-Ferrand and attended the European Cup quarterfinal match on Monday between Clermont and Toulon.
“Peceli Yato started at No. 6 for Clermont and Josua Tuisova was in the reserves for Toulon. Josua came straight back into the Toulon match day team after a short layoff due to injury.”
McKee will travel to the United Kingdom this weekend for one week before returning to Fiji.
