Fight The Bite Campaign Sets Target

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is rolling out the “Fight the Bite” campaign across the central, eastern, northern and western divisions in efforts to strengthen community awareness on dengue prevention.

The ministry has allocated a budget of $170,000 to co-ordinate all the activities in the divisions to combat dengue.

Launched last month, “Fight the Bite” campaign is co-ordinated by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in partnership with the government ministries and municipal councils in co-ordinating the divisional clean-up campaigns and anti-mosquito spraying activities.

The divisional campaigns for the “Fight the Bite” incorporates the partnership from the private sectors, government ministries, non-government organisations (NGO’s), schools, villages and settlements.

There are public awareness programmes conducted by the health inspectors with visitations made in the communities to raise awareness on the dengue prevention.

The Health Ministry is also urging members of the public to take heed of the preventative measures advised by actively supporting the clean-up campaigns conducted around the country.
