$67,000 Renovation For Maqai

Maqai Eco Resort on Qamea Island north of Taveuni has invested in developing the accommodation.
General manager Jeffrey Gush said they had completed renovating five of their bures.
The renovation cost is estimated at around $67,000.
Nine people from Qamea and Taveuni are employed in this redevelopment phase.
Mr Gush said they would not be employing more people after the renovation because Maqai was a small resort with a total of nine bures.
“We are a small personal resort. We are very affordable but maintain a high standard of preparation and service,” he said.
Maqai Eco Beach Resort is also planning a yoga platform and a fitness centre.
The resort is also focused on two community/environment development projects.
“We are looking at a coral restoration programme and the possibility of getting volunteers who can integrate in various projects in our local community and also on the marine side.”
