NRL legend and Fijian Bati captain Petero Civoniceva visited the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s children’s ward in Suva yesterday.

Civoniceva distributed rugby league balls, magazines and water bottles to the sick children.

“It is a great opportunity for us as a team from NRL coming in and putting smiles on the faces of the children,” Civoniceva told SUNsports.

“Especially seeing these children in their sick bed personally makes me feel really sad.

“But it was a great moment for us to come and give out the balls and magazines which I feel one way or the other help them recover from their sickness and become healthy again and that is a very important part of our visit.”

The sister-in-charge of the children’s ward Shona Amputch said they were blessed to have Civoniceva and his team coming in for the visit.

“I feel their presence have boosted the children’s spirit and made them happier to meet their rugby league hero in person.

“I hope there will be more visits this year,” she added.
