FASANOC Welcomes Progress

Fiji Volleyball in partnership with Australia Volleyball reminded sport officials, volunteers and coaches on raising global awareness issues.

This was to mark the 2017 International Day for Peace and Development celebrations in Suva yesterday.

Sports development officer Lyndall Fisher officially opened the event at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) House.

“It’s a global day and I support the course and the people especially here in Fiji who is considered as one of the few countries in the world that are celebrating the day,” she said.

“I am also grateful to Fiji Volleyball Federation for coming up with a good initiative this morning and it’s good to see them spread the sport around the country.

“FASANOC is pleased to see development of various sports in the country,” she said.

Pacific Volleyball partnership coordinator, Semaima Lagilagi, said they were grateful of the support from Australia Volleyball.

“Basically this event is to raise awareness on the importance of sports and how volleyball especially has contributed to raising awareness on the very important issues around like the elimination of Non-Communicable diseases and also raising awareness on very important issues like climate change and violence against women.

“This is part of the campaign to the 2018 Commonwealth Games that will be held in Gold Coast, Australia,” Lagilagi added.
