The Vodafone Fijian 7s team escaped with a 17-17 draw against Wales in their second pool game yesterday.

Wales led 10-5 at halftime, the Vodafone Fijian 7s lone try in the first half was scored by forward Mesulame Kunavula in the first minute while Wales Luke Morgan scored a double.

Skipper Osea Kolinisau was sinned binned for a dangerous tackle which gave the advantage to the Welsh.

Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber reminded the team to organise themselves, their defence and be ruthless.

“Get your tackles right,” Baber said.

The Fijians started off well in the second half as they were able to secure possession and maintain it as Vatemo Ravouvou ran around a Wales defender to put the Fijians in front and was successful with the conversion.

But it was a see-saw of a match as the Dragons executed their set-piece well seeing Morgan Williams score beauty to put them ahead by five points.

In the final minute Amenoni Nasilasila dived under the post to score their final try and Kolinisau failed to convert right in front.
