Nakelo won the Saudranu Trophy Challenge beating Dravuni 8-6 in the Tailevu Rugby Union club games at Nakelo District School yesterday.

Twenty teams are in the competition, with two pools of 10 teams. The club games were also held at the Mokani School grounds.

Tailevu Rugby Union president John Whippy said it is important to create competition among their players.

“We have a lot of young boys here and all have showcased good talent and as you can see they have come out in numbers.

“We want to get them to be more competitive and in order for that we need them to play more competitions like this.

“Rugby is getting bigger now, especially sevens rugby and our ultimate main would be that these boys ultimately contribute to the national team.”

The Tailevu Rugby Union club games will continue this week.
