Women’s Survival Instincts Impress Bhatnagar

Women vendors have been applauded by the Government for their endless efforts to provide for their families.
These words were echoed by the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar, while visiting their stalls yesterday at the Labasa Market.
Ms Bhatnagar who was in the North to donate two rubbish bins for their stalls thanked the women for their commitment to be economically sustainable. She was also there to attend a Women’s Forum earlier in the day.
“I am more privileged to see your personal commitment to be economically viable to sustain livelihood of your own families,” she said.
“When we heard of a group of 50 women working tirelessly to provide for their families through the sale of fish parcels, we wanted to hear more and we were amazed by the drive and story and their progress, challenges and achievements.”
Ms Bhatnagar encouraged them to raise their standards in the preparation and presentation of their fish parcels which they were known for.
Meanwhile, she is calling on children who have elderly parents to take responsibility of them.
“I encourage children, if you are well off, or earning good money, please look after your parents as you should,” she said.
Ms Bhatnagar said senior citizens should not be neglected and ignored after they have done so much to ensure the best for their children.
