What a performance from our Vodafone Fijian 7s team!

They have certainly brought smiles to many faces on Sunday night.  It was also a memorable victory for our young ones, who were certainly praying for a Palm Sunday win.

The Gareth Baber coached-side did not only deliver, but they made sure that South Africa did not cross their line with their hard hitting tackles and defensive play.

Doing the same this weekend in Singapore would certainly be an added bonus.

But for the time being, the whole of Fiji will not tire watching re-play after re-play of the 2017 Hong Kong Sevens tournament.

Congratulatory Message from the President

Our President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote has written to Mr Baber expressing his heartfelt congratulations for the team’s “scintillating and outstanding performance” this past weekend.

“I congratulate the entire team for the achievement, especially noting that this is Fiji’s first title win in the 2016/2017 season.”

Like his predecessor Ben Ryan, Mr Baber was humbled by the win– maintaining that there was still a lot of work to be done.

Part of his four-year plan is to identify talent, nurture and expose our young ruggers to the world.

This is not easy feat.  But given time, financial support and of course the support of every Fijian, Mr Baber can certainly bring home the goods.

Last weekend was merely a peak to show how it can be done.
