Six praised for arresting man accused of stealing car

Six men who helped Police arrest a man who allegedly stole a vehicle last month have been acknowledged by the Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.
They were awarded certificates of commendation yesterday by Brigadier-General Qiliho at the Korovou Police Station.
Mataika Tuicakau, 62, Jovilisi Serekilevu, 26, Watisoni Gone, 27, Isaia Dugutabua, 26, Josua Nasau, 34, and Sikeli Nasau, 24, all of Naivicula Village, Tailevu, arrested a 25-year-old man last month after he allegedly stole a vehicle from the home of a 60-year-old retired teacher in Narere.
The alleged incident took place between March 19 and 20, 2017 and during the process of investigation the stolen vehicle was found abandoned at a farm in Tailevu.
The vehicle was recovered and subsequently the accused person was identified by the six men.
Brigadier-General Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force was always looking towards such assistance to help address crime.
Mr Tuicakau said they were happy to be acknowledged by the Commissioner.
