First Light Taveuni playmaker Lemeki Tulele wasted no time as he joined the Vodafone Fijian 7s squad in Singapore yesterday.

The Qeleni, Taveuni, native was one of three replacements in the squad alongside winger Josua Vici and Paula Dranisinukula.

The three of them were replacing injured players Vatemo Ravouvou, Apisai Domolailai and Joeli Lutumailagi.

Nacanieli Labalaba, who was the 14th man in Hong Kong last weekend, has also stepped into the vacant position.

The duo, Tulele and Vici, participated at the GFI HKFC 10s last weekend and assisted their UBB Gavekal side winning the tournament defeating Penguin 10-7.

Team manager Jone Niurua said “the two have joined the squad and Dranisinukula will join the team tomorrow morning (today).”

Tulele looked excited during their first gym sessions in Singapore yesterday as he tries to fight his way into the final 12 member squad.

Fiji is grouped alongside Hong Kong, Russia and Canada in Pool A.

Fiji will play Hong Kong in their first pool match at 4:52pm on Saturday, their second game is against Russia at 7:50pm and their final pool match is against Canada at 12.06am Sunday.

Meanwhile the Gareth Baber -coached side had their first gym session in Singapore yesterday.
