Team Gallau Andhra of Rakiraki will be the team to beat in the 76 th Dakshina India Andhra Sangam of Fiji (DIAS) Inter District Championship that will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this weekend.

The defending champions have found themselves drawn in Pool two alongside Malolo (Nadi) and Vaqia (Ba) for the April 14-16 fiesta.

The Kunal Naidu captained Nadi side is top notch in Pool three alongside Tomuka (Lautoka) and Tavua.

“Our aim is to help promote Andhra and bring more awareness,” he said.

“We have a very young Nadi side who are working hard to bring victory for Nadi which is long overdue,” Naidu said.

Pools

n Pool One has Nasinu, Lomawai (Nadroga), Qeleloa (Nadi) and Sigatoka.

n Pool Four has Ba, Lautoka and Vuniyasi (Nadi).

Young Men’s Association secretary Nilesh Naidu said this year marks the return of their IDC.

“Due to Cyclone we did not have the tournament last year but the defending champion for previous year was Qalau Andhra,” he said.

“We have 13 teams in total participating in men’s division this year and six teams in Ladies event,” he said.

He said their national body Dakshina India Andhra Sangam of Fiji (DIAS) runs the organization.

“The sporting is looked after young men’s Association for soccer and Naari Sangh for netball,” he said.

“We expect tough competition this year and all teams are looking forward to this IDC. Nadi will come alive and there are good players spread out in most of the teams giving the edge when it comes to the competitive.”

The final is expected on Sunday.
