An entertainment group founded by Fijians living in New Zealand is dedicating its concert earnings, to assist Fijian families in need.

Canterbury Rhythm Masters is based in Christchurch, New Zealand dedicated the first of its earnings to the family who lost their three daughters in a fire recently in Labasa.

The group was founded by Mohammed Huk and Arvind Kumar and donated NZ$1600 (F$2340.48) to the family in Labasa.

Mr Huk said they were honoured to have provided support knowing well what a family went through in such tragic times.

The group hopes to stage more performances with the aim of providing philanthropic deeds anywhere in the world especially to the people of their beloved Fiji.

“We had one show that was coming out in Canterbury and within that time we heard about Mr Kumar’s family that lost their three children in a house fire in Labasa,” Mr Huk said.

The genre of songs the band plays are Bollywood songs. They also have dancers in their group who perform to these Bollywood songs.

“Mostly we are targeting Fiji people and from the past experience we have seen in Christchurch itself, the Fijian community need money for funeral purposes and operations,” Mr Huk said.

“Mr Kumar and I both thought let’s form something and keep performing to raise money for people who are need.

“In New Zealand we live such a healthy life and sometimes when it comes to things like this, I know what people are going through so any sort of help provided by anyone is a great thing.

If anyone needs assistance, you may contact Mr Huk and his wife on 006421497786 or go through their Facebook page, Canterbury Rhythm Masters.
