Rewa beat Cuvu 2-1 in their second pool match to book a place in the quarterfinals of the Vodafone Muslim Interdistrict Championship at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Rewa and national Under-17 captain Mohammed Nizal scored the opening goal while Mohammed Aklak scored the second.

Rewa coach Nigel Khan said he was pleased with their performance and they are going to take every match one at a time.

“I’m happy that we have qualified to the next level which is the quarterfinals,” Khan said.

Rewa last won the tournament in 1992 and are hopeful to win it this year.

Cuvu coach Mohammed Shamim said silly mistakes by his defenders cost them the game.

“We tried our best but there were quick two goals made by Rewa despite we having almost 80 per cent of the possession,” Shamim added.
