Schools Ready For Today’s 7s Battle

The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union will be hosting an Invitational 7s tournament at the Suva Grammar School grounds today.
FSSRU president Solomone Seru said the Fijian 7s win at the Olympic Games last year inspired them to revive the tournament after a four-year lapse.
“This is to ensure young talented players get exposed to the game of rugby,” he said.
“I’m thankful that Remington and the Konica Minolta companies are our major sponsors of the day.”
Seru said 40 teams have confirmed their participation.
“These are secondary schools around the southern and eastern zone. It is going to be in four categories, which is the under-15 boys, under-17 boys, under-19 boys and the girls open grade competition.”
Seru said they are urging people to come out in numbers to support the tournament.
“We’re looking forward to a great tournament and we are also encouraging parents and school supporters to come and support their teams.”
The entry fee will be $2 for students in uniform and $4 for adults.
