Former Fiji First party candidate, Minister for Transport  and Leader of Government Business, Pio Tikoduadua has announced he will be standing in next year’s general election under the National Federation Party banner.

He made the announcement at a press conference earlier today.

His decision comes after discussions with his wife and two children.

He has been farming and residing in his village since he retired for health and personal reasons in 2015.

Mr Tikoduadua claimed that while in Government, he operated under a climate of fear.

“Today I stand free,” he said.

He later spoke in itaukei and urged Fijians to work together in love.

He appeared emotional while speaking in itaukei.

BACKGROUND:
Tikoduadua was born on 12 September 1966 in Namalata, Tailevu.
He served as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport until his retirement in 2015.
He is a former Lieutenant-Colonel in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
He held several leadership roles before becoming Chief Of Staff: Operations at the RFMF.
When Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s office, Parmesh Chand was transferred to Public Service Commission, Tikoduadua took over the role.
