Gallau Defend DIAS Title
The Gallau Andhra football team have successfully retained the 76th Dakshina India Andhra Sangam (DIAS) of Fiji Interdistrict Championship title at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
The Rakiraki-based side hammered Tomuka 3-0 in the final. The goals came from Punnet Kumar in the 6th minute and Ganeshwar Raju in the 23rd minute as they led 2-0 at halftime. In the 48th minute it was Abhikash Mudaliar who sealed the final goal of the tournament.
Manager Satwan Naidu was overwhelmed with the win.
“Last year after we took the trophy home, we had people saying that we did not deserve it since there was no final played, but we proved them wrong and this is for the people of Rakiraki,” he said
In the first semifinal Gallau edged out Qeleloa 1-0 while Tomuka beat Vuniyasi 1-0.
