Hutson Cup Sheraton, Tamavua Top

The David Aitcheson captained-Sheraton took out the Shop N Save sponsored Hutson Cup at the Nadi Sports and Social Club yesterday.
Sheraton laced with Curtis Mar, Rajnesh Prasad and Kushal Pillay topped the point’s table with 13 points.
In their last two pool matches, the host club was held to a 16-16 draw by Tamavua before they humbled Rewa 26-6.
Nadi beat Ba 4-3 to decide the runners- up after both leveled with 10 points apiece.
Aitcheson said, the three-day competition was very stiff.
“Everyone played equally well and we wanted to win this tournament,” he said.
“We have not won the Hutson Cup. The competition level was tough and the green was actually running in 15 seconds that is quite fast for some of us.”
In the National Women’s Fours, Tamavua with national reps Litia Tikoisuva, Sarote Hiagi, Losalini Tukai and Mereani Ralovo topped the table with eight points.
Tikoisuva said the green was fast compared to the one in Suva.
“I must commend my girls as they played quite well.”
She thanked sponsors Shop N Save Sheraton Club for organising the tournament.
Team Sheraton with the inclusion of Sheral Mar, Dorine O’Connor, Karen Cheer and Radhika Prasad finished runners-up with six points and Suva were on third spot.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Bowls Fiji held their annual general meeting in Nadi on Saturday night. President Radhika Prasad said majority retained their spots and there were two changes.
She said their focus is to get a qualified coach through the Fiji National Sports Commission to prepare the national team for international events.
“There have been some good points given to us by the club delegates and we will take that into account so that Bowls Fiji goes forward,” she said.
“Bowls Fiji is looking to send last year’s national singles winners Sheral Mar and Arun Kumar to participate in the Champions vs Champions in St John’s Park in Sydney in November and also to next year’s Commonwealth Games.”
