A 22-year-old of Tavakubu Settlement in Lautoka charged with theft, appeared yesterday at a special court sitting at the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

The accused, Samuela Vosadrugu, appeared before Magistrate Ranjajeeva Wimalasena charged with one count of theft.

The court heard that on March 7 in Lautoka Vosadrugu allegedly stole six 50 kilogramme bags of cassava belonging to Vilikesa Veisa with the intention to permanently deprive possession.

Police prosecution Corporal Theodore Lew represented the State.

Corporal Lew told the court that the accused was the nephew of the complainant.

Magistrate Wimalasena granted the accused bail with $1000 bail bond with surety.

He will re-appear on May 22 at the Lautoka Magistrate Court.
