Both Raiwaqa based- men’s basketball teams Mighty Mites and Boston White had agreed not to play in the final of the Easter Club Basketball Championship at the USP Gym on Saturday night.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Basketball Fiji chief operating officer, Lai Puamau confirmed this indicating that the teams came from the same area.
“They instead shared the $1000 prize money as they thought it would be best for them,” Puamau said.
In the men’s first semi-finals the Mighty Mites beat USP 30-24 while Boston Whites edged out Spartans 25-20 in the second semi-finals.
Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, Dynamic Reds beat Sparks 10-6 in the final.
