Focus On Work Safety

Tripartite partners comprising employers, workers, government representatives and the International Labour Organization (ILO) will celebrate the 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work today in the Northern Division.
The theme for this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work is “Optimize the Collection and Use of OHS Data”.
It focuses on the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilise reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data.
In celebrating the day for Fiji in all divisions, the tripartite partners and the ILO will be conducting a one-day occupational workshop on the theme for selected employers and workers.
Similar programmes are also organised for the Western Division on 26th April with the main celebrations to be held in Suva on the 28th of April.
The annual ILO World Day, marked on 28 April, is an awareness-raising campaign aimed at focusing international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.
