Labasa Bridge to Undergo Urgent Repairs in May

The Labasa Bridge will undergo some urgent repair works in May.
In light of this, temporary closures will allow maintenance works to take place by the Fiji Roads Authority. FRA has also specified weight restrictions for vehicles.
This was confirmed by the FRA chief executive officer John Hutchinson yesterday.
Mr Hutchinson said: “Some works will include strengthening beams, relocating railings on downstream side of bridge and repairing any unforeseen defects that may arise during the course of this repair works.
“The FRA has placed notice boards up onsite for the past week to notify the road users.”
The FRA wishes to apologise for the short-term inconvenience, but this is for a long term improvement, he said.
The cost of maintenance is $620,155.
