Tanoa Group Looks To Expand

Seven general managers of the Tanoa Group of Hotels in the Pacific gathered at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva last night.
“It is to thank our clients for their continuous support and to give them an update on what we are doing as a Tanoa Hotel Group as the group is expanding,” said Tanoa Hotel Group Director of Sales Nick Ridling.
The general managers were also accompanied by some of their staff.
Continuing investment was confirmed.
Mr Ridling said the rebuilding of the Tanoa Hotel in Rakiraki was taking place.
He said the group also planned to refurbish the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva this year.
After the entire Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel was damaged during Tropical Cyclone Winston, the group opened 10 rooms before Christmas last year, and will open another 10 rooms in the next four months.
“We will have 40 rooms opened by the end of next year. We have basically started rebuilding the property which is great but the good thing is that it is being rebuilt to brand new rooms. It is not a refurbishment, it is brand new products,” Mr Ridling said.
He said there were a lot of conferences held in Tonga, Samoa and Fiji.
“We are also found with the people here in Suva that because they stay with us in Samoa and Fiji then they will say with us in Tonga,” he said.
The group had recently opened the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel in Tonga last November.
“The hotel in Tonga had been closed for two years, but we purchased it two years ago then rebuilt the whole product from scratch,” Mr Ridling said.
The hotel has 122 deluxe rooms on the waterfront in Tonga.
“It is by far the best hotel in Tonga. It has got big conference facilities as well,” Mr Ridling said.
The Tanoa Hotel Group is a family-owned and operated business established more than 40 years ago.
They have 10 hotels in the South Pacific: Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand.
