Fiji Secondary School Rugby League Under-18 coach Meli Baledrokadroka said they are out to impress NRL scouts on their Australian tour.

The players and officials presented their i-tatau to the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote at State House yesterday.  Baledrokadroka told SUNsports that the tour is an opportunity for players to secure contracts or scholarships to play and study in Australia.

“It is a great honour to take these boys overseas,” he said.

“We are taking 30 talented players who have been identified during the Fiji Secondary Schools competition. I’m confident that some of the boys will secure contracts and scholarships to start their sporting career.”

The side leave for Sydney next Monday and return on May 7.

“We will play three games one after another and that is why we have prepared two teams.”

The U18 side play their first game in Canberra against the Canberra Raiders academy side and then travel to Sydney to their play two more games.
