Jack’s Nadi have named eight debutants on their run on side to take on defending Skipper Cup champions Nadroga in today’s opening round at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

They are forwards Viliame Richard, Peni Naruma, Asivurusi Naliga, Leone Vatunitu, Luke Navuwai, Waisea Natogavou and Serupepeli Turuva.

Also former secondary school sprinter Penaia Naweilulu, Savenaca Saukuru, Epeli Masimete and Ropate Votu are going to start from the bench.

NRU marketing manager Sekove Tuilakeba said this is a challenging year, as there only eight teams in the Skipper Cup competition.

“We are not looking at the names and we see that the boys have performed well in the off season,” he said.

“When it comes to a Nadroga-Nadi game it is always a crunch match and the boys have been training well for this.”

Tuilakeba added that NRU have mobilised structures whereby having their mission, vision, and strategic plan.

“For us this year we have relooked at what we have been doing for the past few years and see that we should have introduced more structural in the organisation which we have done. Also our succession plan will help us to move the union to new heights.”

Former Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Samuela Saqiwa will lead Nadi’s campaign.
