Former Vodafone Flying Fijians skipper Ro Alifereti Doviverata coached Rewa to beat Nasinu 15-3 in the first round of the Vodafone Vanua Championship at Burebasaga ground yesterday.

Rewa’s Isaia Naivalu scored the opening try in the first half and they followed it up with a second try to Netava Kurusai while Malakai Raoma landed a conversion and followed it with a penalty.

Leone Buli kicked in Nasinu’s only points.

“It was our first game and it was tough for us as well,” said Ro Dovi.

“We’ve been preparing for the game for over two weeks so we are happy that we’ve managed to win this one. A few of the boys have been playing sevens rugby and their presence contributed to the win.”

Ro Dovi said despite winning their first match they still need to improve in other areas of play.

“We’ve identified the areas which we need to work on especially on our tackles, our lineouts and scrums as well.”

Nasinu coach Sailosi Naiqete Snr said despite the loss he was happy with the player’s performance as this was their first provincial game after 16 years.
