Twenty-year-old Josefa Bole stole the show for Ovalau in the opening round of the Vodafone Vanua Championship as they upset Tailevu 12-5 at Nakelo District School ground yesterday.

What happened: Bole kicked three penalties in the first half and one in the second half for the victory.

Tailevu on the other hand lacked discipline and were continuously penalised with Bole doing the honours.

Half time: Ovalau 9-0 Tailevu.

Tailevu number eight Yasala Ralimalima scored the lone try in the second half before Bole successfully added his fourth penalty for the victory.

Star turn: Bole didn’t let his team down while making his debut.

Comments: Ovalau manager Mosese Waini said: “We came fully prepared and we are satisfied with the win. We are taking one game at a time and are also confident that we will climb our way back to the Skipper Cup competition.”

Tailevu coach Tevita Kamikamica said: “We prepared for one week and we have a young side. We will bounce back to win our remaining games.”
