A mother of four children who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts has urged mothers not to shy away but take part in tertiary studies for their potential for employment.

“It does not mean that you are married and children; you cannot study,” said 39-year-old Reama Halaapiapi .

“Stand up and prove yourself as our nation needs more women in the workforce.”

Ms Halaapiapi graduated on Friday with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Literature and Communication/iTaukei studies at the University of Fiji graduation ceremony in Lautoka.

She said it was not an easy path but the backing from her family allowed her to put in the effort to complete her studies.

“Looking after my four children, doing house chores and studying were not easy,” Ms Halaapiapi said.

“I am thankful to God for my achievement and my family for their generous support.

“I would also thank my lecturers.”

Ms Halaapiapi resides with her family at Nabare Settlement in Saweni, Lautoka.
