Suva star striker Ravinesh Karan Singh scored a brace of goals as they walloped Dreketi 4 -1 in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday. Singh scored both goals in the second half which pushed Suva to the top of the Vodafone Premier League points table.

What happened: Sairusi Nalabu opened Suva’s account in the 22nd minute of play as they led 1-0 at half time. In the second half Singh smacked in their second goal as they enjoyed a 2-0 lead. This was short-lived when Dreketi’s Sitiveni Rakai slotted in their lone goal. With a 2-1 lead, Suva regrouped and bounced back with veteran striker Pita Rabo slamming in their third goal.

Suva kept on the pressure and in the 85th minute Singh tapped in his second goal to leave their final score at 4-1.

Big play: In the second half Dreketi tried hard to take control of the game and draw level but Rabo’s goal took the sting out of them.

Star play: Singh was the man of the match. He was always aggressive up front and this saw him score twice.

Comments: Suva coach Nathan Shivam said: “I think the boys played really well although we were not able to play a more constructive game. Playing Dreketi is tough since they play at a fast pace.”

Dreketi coach Johan Leewai said. “I’m disappointed with the boy’s performance. They missed a lot of chances in the first half but we will go back and sort it out before our next game.”
