The director of the Fiji Meteorological Office in Nadi, Ravind Kumar, says people must be prepared all the time for sudden weather changes.

He said even though the cyclone season ends on Sunday people should always be ready.

He said in the tropics “we are going from wet to dry season.”

He said the weather could change in a short period of time. He said they would issue a media statement on Thursday.

Suva was last night hit by lightening, thunder and rain.

Meanwhile, a weak trough lies slow moving just to the southwest of Fiji, says the Fiji Meteorological Office weather forecast. Associated cloud and showers affect the southern parts.

Forecast to midnight for the Fiji group:

Cloudy periods with some showers with isolated thunderstorms over the southern parts, interior and eastern parts of the larger islands.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms.

Moderate easterly winds.

Moderate seas.

Outlook: Cloudy periods with some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands with isolated heavy falls.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers.
