The Cakaudrove Rugby Union officials are confident of a brighter future despite losing their Vodafone Vanua Championship opener to Naitasiri Northern Bulls 11-3 at Naluwai, last Saturday.

CRU committee member Pita Ralaca said yesterday that this is part of their plan to expose young players to a higher level of competition.

“It is always tough to play a game away from home especially for our players who are new to the competition,” he said.

“The team we took to Naitasiri last weekend consisted mostly of young players who are new to this level of rugby. We will work hard on them to improve before our next match against Ovalau.”

Ralaca said playing Ovalau in the second round of competition is not going to be an easy one for them.

He said; “We want to start from the bottom and make our way up but to do that we need to learn and improve every week. We are going to prepare well for this game which will be held at our home ground but we prefer to do the talking in the field.

“It will not be an easy game and we know Ovalau will want to win so we look forward to the challenge,” he added.
