Seaqaqa Edge Out Savusavu

Seaqaqa pipped Savusavu 2-1 in their Vodafone Senior League clash at Seaqaqa Muslim Primary School ground last Saturday. Seaqaqa coach Shivneel Chand told SUNsports that they fielded young players who displayed superb football.

“These young boys stuck to our game plan throughout the game and did well,” he said.

“Our defence stood out as we managed to put Savusavu under pressure through constant attacks. We prepared well but we will not stop here as we need to build up on our game.”

Savusavu Football Association secretary Niraj Lal said they were unfortunate to lose a player through a red card.

“We tried hard to make a comeback in the second half after Penaia Bale scored our lone goal but it was not to be.”

NADOGO WIN THRILLER

In a Vodafone Senior League thriller Nadogo scored an upset 2-1 win over Taveuni at the Welagi Sports ground last Saturday.

Playing away from home Nadogo fought hard to keep Taveuni at bay.

“We had prepared well before we travelled to Taveuni for the game and this is a well deserved win for us,” said Nadogo Football manager Navindra Pratap.

Nadogo’s Salacieli Vosamosi was the toast of the side as he scored twice in the first half to silence the Taveuni supporters. The hosts fought back and pulled a goal back through a Navin Kumar stunner midway the second spell.

Taveuni coach Shiven Chand said four of their key players did not take the field as they were away in Labasa.

“This affected our performance. We put up a good fight and will work on our weaknesses before our next game,” Chand said.
