A 51-year-old security officer of Nawaicoba whose right leg was fractured in an accident on Saturday is still admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.

Two of his passengers who sustained injuries are also admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that they were under observation.

“A 51-year-old Security Officer of Nawaicoba whilst driving towards Nadi with three men aged 37, 46 and 36 years allegedly overtook a vehicle driven by a 38- year-old of Lautoka,” Ms Naisoro said.

“The 51-year-old allegedly lost control and went onto the oncoming lane and collided with another vehicle driven by a 44-year-old of Namaka, Nadi.

“Due to the impact the suspect’s vehicle was thrown back and landed on top of another vehicle.”

Ms Naisoro said others were treated at the Nadi Hospital and sent home as investigations continued.

The incident happened in Waqadra, Nadi, between 1:30pm to 2:00pm, holding up traffic with a crowd watching as the National Fire Authority arrived to assist.

Pictures on social media show that a truck, a minivan and a car were involved in the smash.
