Expect more Fijian players to join top rugby league clubs in Australia from next year.

This followed visits from various NRL club scouts to the Vodafone Fijian Under-18 rugby league camp in Sydney yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports from Sydney, Australia yesterday Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League executive Lai Corerega confirmed scouts have started visiting their  camp since they arrived on Monday.

“Scouts have been visiting the camp but our main message ahead of our tour opener is to stick to the game plan and enjoy the game,” Corerega said.

He also stated the players are in high spirits and are looking forward to play their first two matches against the Canberra Raiders development side in Canberra tomorrow.

“The boys are in good spirit and are looking forward to Thursday’s match. Right now our main areas of focus are on our defence and the execution of our game plan,” he added.

Former Fijian U18 rugby league players who have made it to the NRL or Super Rugby are Taqele Naiyaravoro, Marika Koroibete, Seta Tamaninvalu, Tui Kamikamica and recently Viliame Kikau.

Following their first game tomorrow the Fijian U18 side will return to the Sydney Academy of Sports on Friday to have their recovery session and a light gym session on Saturday and Sunday before their next round of games being set for next Monday.

The side will travel to the Central Coast on Monday and play against Country Rugby League development team and Newcastle.

The team will culminate their tour next Friday on their matches against the Bulldogs development team and the Australian Fijian side.
