Govt Eases Transport For Lau Schools

Over 100 Fijians of Navesi Primary School in Totoya Lau will have better access to education following the assistance of two boats and engines by the Ministry of Education.

Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Dr Mahendra Reddy while handing over of boats and engines to Navesi Primary School in Totoya and Uciwai District School  in Moala, Lau, said Government would uphold the right for all Fijians to have access to education as stipulated in the Fijian Constitution.

“Government is gradually removing all obstacles towards education, we want our future generation to have better access to education especially for those rural and maritime schools,” Mr Reddy said.

“With this donation we will ensure that students get to school on time while travelling to school and back home.”

Mr Reddy commended both the managements of the respective schools present at the hand-over for their continuous support towards providing better education facilities for Fijians.

Navesi Primary School manager Pita Ledua commended Government for their commitment in assisting them.

“This donation will improve the lives of students in the islands especially for us, I would like to thank Government for their assistance.”
