The Kalabu 7s rugby team were on cloud nine as they departed Suva last night for Kadavu as they prepare to participate in the much anticipated 2017 Tiliva 7s tournament which starts in Tiliva village today.

Team captain Josefa Arataiti said they were fortunate to have the support of the community.

“This is the first time for us to go out of Viti Levu and participate in the 7s tournament. We are all excited and we are fortunate to have the support of the Kalabu community.

“Our budget for this trip is $5000 that includes food, transportation and accommodation and a special acknowledgment to the Tabuya family for providing our accommodation and food in the village,” Arataiti said.

Arataiti said with Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber’s presence they would give their best in this two-day tourney.

“We have low profile players but we will go out there and give our best,” he added.
