Roqica Vows To Up Fijiana’s Game

Telecom Fijiana captain Ana Roqica and player Miriama Naobasali have vowed to bring out their best in the remaining leg of the World Rugby Women Sevens Series in Langford, Canada, and Clermont- Ferrand, France.
This was after the duo were named in the dream team in the Kitayushu Sevens in Japan over the weekend.
Roqica said she had no idea that she was going to be part of the team.
“I am so happy and I did not know that I was part of the dream team. I am so proud and also I want to thank the girls. Because of them, I have become part of the dream team,” she said.
The Vakativa, Cakaudrove, lass said: “I am proud of the girls and our performance in Japan was a good result. We finished at fourth place even though we lost in the bronze against Australia, but overall our performance was really good.”
She said it was in Dubai that she noticed the change in the team’s performance.
“We have improved; every leg that we have gone to we aim to always improve our next leg in Canada.
“There is a lot of talent from the girls out there and we know coach has selected a few from Marist 7s. They will train with us next week.
“I know from our performance in Japan, we will get those girls to train hard and be part of the next leg of the race to Canada,” she said.
“It’s our attack and defence in our last game; there is a lack of communications there. That is why we lost against Australia. We will improve from that, and we will do a lot of video analysis and improve from our mistakes.”
Naobasali said there was more to be done.
“I feel happy after being named in the dream team, but there is more work to be done, especially polishing on our communication skills and defence,” Naobasali said.
