Cakautini hopes for debut in Paris

Newcomer to the Vodafone Fijian 7s extended squad Glen Cakautini is hoping to make his debut for the national team in Paris on May 14-15 at Stade Jean Bouin stadium.
Training with the familiar faces he has seen on television, Cakautini said it has been tough but he is willing to push himself to be chosen in the final squad.
“First of all I want to thank the Lord Almighty for getting me this far in my rugby career,” Cakautini said.
“I feel great and thankful to be part of the squad and to train with the well-known names that we have heard about.
“It is exciting just to be here and it has been really tough going through the training sessions that the senior players go through.
“I have set a goal to make it into the team for the Paris 7s.
“I know it will be really tough and the coach has told us that if we believe in ourselves and work hard, we can get a spot.
Meanwhile, head coach Gareth Baber said he was pleased with the new players’ efforts and they stand a real chance of being part of the squad for the last leg.
“Training has been good, the weather has been indifferent the last couple of days so it has made it a bit wet and we know that this time of the year that is something we have to deal with,” Baber said.
“The squad is working well, there are couple of new faces in here as well which is good and hopefully they continue to do well.”
