Hosting village fielded two teams for the Vodafone Tiliva 7s tournament which kicked off in Kadavu yesterday.

Coach Watisoni Korobiau said they are determined to gain exposure from this tournament.

“We also hope to achieve a better result especially in terms of getting exposure as I have told the boys that this is not our last tournament but this is where our rugby journey begins which is at our home ground and we hope to keep moving forward and try to participate in bigger tournaments in Suva,” Korobiau said.

“There are 30 young players in the teams, Tiliva Red and Tiliva White.

“It has been a great opportunity for the players to start of their first big tournament in their home ground and also for most of the players this is their first time to play against some national reps as well.

“Most of this players are young and between the age of 19-25 years and they plan to get some exposure and develop their rugby skills,” he said.

Korobiau said the team experienced some financial difficulties in trying to organise new sets of uniforms and sporting gears.

“But through the support of the team and villagers we managed to buy a new set of uniform for the boys.”
