Employees of the Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa FSC Mill were yesterday reminded to be ready for the new crushing season.

FSC chief executive officer Graham Clark called on the staff to be ready to receive the farmers without a halt.

He reminded them that there were only four weeks left before the mill opened for the 2017 crushing season.

“You all need to make sure that you are ready for the challenge that is before us,” Mr Clark told the 400 employees who were gathered for the Occupational Health and Safety celebration in Labasa.

“We have got four weeks until we can smell the sugar been produced.June 1 is not far away. You must be ready to receive the cane. We will not stop and I don’t want to stop. I want us to crush right through with minimum stop.”

Challenges

Mr Clark said they needed to improve on minimising mill breakdowns just like they had in the past years.

He said he supported the Labasa team and is willing to work with them in every way.

“You have my support and I look forward to working with you,” he said.

“Labasa FSC is showing the way and I am happy to see the team work you all have showed during this celebration,” he said.

“I am privileged to lead the team and I am happy that team Labasa is supporting me. I look forward to spread the word about the great work you have been doing.”

Meanwhile, FSC chief operating officer Navin Chandra requested the employees to support Mr Clark as he works on turning the industry into one of the best income-generating enterprises.

“There are lot of rumours about how this industry is not performing well,” Mr Chandra said.

“We can change this; you are the voice of FSC.We take this industry where it needs to be.

“Mr Clark has taken a big responsibility to take us to glory days.He is a very passionate and dedicated person. Hence, I urge you to support him and do your best in whatever work that you are doing,” Mr Chandra pleaded with the workers.
