Fire Destroys Homes In Naitasiri, Labasa

The National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a house fire incident at Muaniweni settlement in Naitasiri yesterday morning which destroyed a five-bedroom wooden and corrugated iron structured house and left a family of three homeless.
The Nausori Fire Station received a fire emergency call at 12.16am and immediately responded. Upon arrival at 1.12am, the fire team saw the house engulfed in flames.
The fire team used deliveries of water from the fire trucks relayed from the nearby creek in the area to extinguish the fire.
The family was at home when the fire happened, but they managed to escape safely.
In Labasa, a three-bedroom corrugated iron and timber house was also destroyed yesterday by fire at Kulukulu outside Labasa.
The Labasa Fire Station received a fire emergency call at 11.29pm and immediately responded. Upon arrival at 12.03am, the fire team saw the house engulfed in flames.
The fire team used deliveries of water from the fire trucks to extinguish the fire.
NFA investigations are underway to determine the causes of both fires.
