The Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) has become the fourth major sponsor for this year’s TEDx Suva event scheduled for next month.

PIDF Secretary General, Francois Martel said they were thrilled to be one of the major partners of TEDx Suva “Ocean of Ideas” initiative and looked forward to the innovative and inspirational adventure of inclusive change.

Mr Martel said PIDF continued to encourage recognition of the value of our oceans and enhancing collaboration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 14 targets.

“But we cannot do it alone, we need everyone and anyone with similar passions for sustainable oceans,” he said.

TEDx Suva spokesperson, Mere Nailatikau was grateful for PIDF’s partnership in coming on board as a major sponsor.

Ms Nailatikau said seven speakers from various backgrounds would take part.

An audience of 100 has also been confirmed and it will also be a live streamed event on May 6 that will be held at the University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva.

The signing of sponsorship was held at the PIDF Secretariat in Nasese on Thursday.

BACKGROUND:

TEDx is a programme of local, live talk events produced by volunteer organisers who want to engage their communities and start important conversations.

The first TEDx Suva event was held last year.
