Sevens Rugby Boosts Development

Tiliva village elder Romeo Rokomaqisa was grateful to be part of the two-day Vodafone Tiliva Sevens tournament in Kadavu. Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, he said it was great to be around to witness the tournament after a 10-year lapse.
Rokomaqisa said he was happy at how the tournament has brought the people together and created an opportunity for their young men to showcase their skills against the visiting teams.
“We are so happy and proud to host such a big tournament. Also, we are pleased that despite the unfavourable weather conditions the people still turned out in numbers to support the tournament.”
Rokomaqisa said from the tournament they are now challenged to improve their living conditions.
“We will improve our living conditions so we can provide better accommodation and services to the people and teams that will be part of our tournament next year. We also thank our major sponsors Vodafone Fiji, BLK and the media especially for doing the coverage of all the games which has created a big boost to the island and also make Tiliva village known to other parts of Fiji,” he added.
