Wong Is FASANOC New VP

Physiotherapist Cathy Wong promises to develop sports administration following her appointment as a new vice-president for Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee.
The Rio 2016 chef de mission Wong and Vanessa Kilner, whose term expired at the annual general assembly, was also re-appointed vice-president on Tuesday night.
They are going to join ongoing vice-presidents Jerome Kado, Harvie Probert, Makarita Lenoa, and Manasa Baravilala, to make up the full FASANOC executive Board, led by Joe Rodan Snr who retained his presidency role.
“I was nominated by the national federations and this is the show of confidence in my leadership, my vision is all about athletes having sports science background and we can work together moving forward.
“After the achievement of our rugby team at the Rio Olympics we learn that it’s all about winning and sports is a career,” Wong said.
“So I want to develop this for coaches, players and especially the administration up skill our support staff locally to perform at that level.”
Being involved with sports for the past 33 years Wong believes that most of the challenges athletes face is due to the errors committed by administrators.
“I know the hardships athletes go through over the years, problems like air tickets and other logistics so it’s important to up skill sports administrations,” she added.
