Former Natabua High School and Coca-Cola Games 400m champion runner Batinisavu Uluiyata is focused on improving his rugby.

The Bemana, Nadroga native who once was dubbed ‘Superman’ was part of the Wardens Gold sevens outfit that retained the FWCC Martintar Sevens title at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.

During the two-day rugby fiesta, Uluiyata scored six tries with one in the final against Tokatoka Westfield Dragons.

“I love my sevens rugby and I want to improve my game,” the 20-year-old told SUNsports.

Uluiyata was part of the Racing 92 club in France where he played for one season after taking up a scholarship.

“I did complete my scholarship then returned to Fiji and was recruited to the Corrections Service three weeks ago,” he said.

“The Fijian rugby environment is the best way to learn since there is no language barrier. I want to prepare well with the Wardens team and there is a long way to go. I need to improve my skills and learning it in Fiji will be the fastest way for me to learn,” he added.

The former Natabua High School sprinter is looking forward to more game time under coach and former Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Sailosi Naiteqe Jnr.
