Bring On Stallions

The Suva rugby team hope to maintain their winning form when they host defending Skipper Cup champions Nadroga in the second round of competition this Saturday.
With almost 70 percent turnover from last year’s squad the capital city side now comprises of young talented players who are all fighting for a spot in the final team.
Head coach Saiasi Fuli said yesterday they respect Nadroga as champions but this Saturday would be all about winning and maintaining consistency.
“We’ve a lot of new players in the squad after players from the National Fire Authority, Wardens and Police have gone to Namosi,” the former Vodafone Flying Fijian halfback said.
“Suva is a big province with talented players so it’s the matter of exposing these talents.
“That is our aim and hopefully we will do well against Nadroga.”
Suva and Nadroga are currently on top of the Skipper Cup points table with five points each following their bonus point wins in the first round.
Fuli said with the limited time of preparation that they had in the first round they were grateful that the players came out with a bonus point win over Malolo.
He said preparation has been going on well this week with the squad of 30 to 35 players attending training.
“The main focus is to concentrate how we can execute our plan well. “We know Nadroga is the Skipper Cup and Farebrother champions, so hopefully this will motivate the boys to come out better against them. “Our focus is to do well against Nadroga and try and apply the same pressure so we can come out victorious.”
Other Skipper Cup matches on Saturday will see Nadi host Northland at Prince Charles Park, Naitasiri take on Macuata while Malolo play Namosi at Thompson Park in Navua.
