The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Council of Fiji held its second meeting in Suva today.

Participants agreed of developing the BPO industry in Fiji into an internationally-recognised brand, and in its deliberations yesterday, identified four pillars that are geared towards moving the industry forward.

These four pillars of importance to the council are (1) branding, (2) infrastructure and technology, (3) education and (4) incentives and financials.

Elected interim president, Shane Collins reiterated that members of the council stepped forward to work within each of the four pillars in order to develop action plans to further enhance these critical areas of the industry.

Discussions also concerned the finalisation of a constitution for the Council. Collins added that the Council has a clear vision of what it wants to achieve for the BPO sector in the country.

“We are working to get an action plan together. The priority is for the major players in the BPO sector to come together and understand what we do and what are our limitations,” he added.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive, Godo Mueller- Teut (pictured) says the private sector led Council will give a unified voice to the BPO industry.

“BPO is an important and a growing sector in the country. A successful and vibrant BPO sector will lead to the creation of significant employment opportunities,” Mr Mueller- Teut said.

Mr Mueller-Teut says Investment Fiji is also marketing the ICT & BPO sector internationally to develop awareness and attract FDI.
